Chapter 194 Do You Need Me To Come Over
Zachary asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m renting there now.”
Zachary chuckled. “Isn’t that perfect? If Mr. Thorne and Mrs. Thorne move there too, they’ll be in the same neighborhood as you.”
Lysander gave a slight nod.
Zachary said, “How about you help pack up some stuff in the next couple of days? I can take advantage of the weekend to help move your things as well.”
Lysander responded, “No worries. We’ll call a moving company.”
“The moving company’s staff are all men. Given that it’s just you and Michelle, two girls, I can’t help but worry. It would be much better if there were a man around.”
Originally, Lysander thought that Zachary was somewhat of a worrywart.
However, on the day of the move, when the moving company’s crew arrived and saw all the furniture in the house, they immediately quoted an incredibly inflated price.
Moreover, when seven or eight strapping young men rushed into the house, the already small living room immediately became extremely crowded.
Even though it was her own home, Lysander couldn’t shake off a subtle sense of unease.
Her parents were already advanced in age, and her younger sister had just come of age. She genuinely had no chance to resist if these people truly had any ill intentions.
The leader lit a cigarette, leaning against the door frame as he started to smoke. “Is this price acceptable? Are you moving or not?”
Maverick was frustrated. “With this amount of money, we could have bought a major appliance! We’re not moving anymore. You guys can leave.”
“Leave? We’ve spent our entire morning here, and several trucks have driven here, which also costs fuel. Your family has wasted half a day of my buddies‘ time, not to mention the gas money. You need to compensate us.”
Maverick grew increasingly irritated. “The deal fell through, so why on earth should we still have to pay for it?”
“Sir, these are the rules,” he stated.
“What kind of rules are you talking about? I’ve never heard of them. You all better leave now!”
“I can’t leave without the money.”
This group, taking advantage of their numbers, saw that the household consisted of only middle–aged individuals and a couple of young girls. They showed no intention of leaving
Lysander, concerned for her family’s safety, proceed with the idea of spending money to prevent misfortune. “Okay, name your price.”
“Flat rate, a thousand.”

Lysander was conveniently positioned by the window as she peered down below.
The roadside was utterly deserted.
The white Cayenne that had been parked there for the past few days didn’t show up today.
Suddenly, she found the situation rather amusing. It seemed like her relationship with Josiah had always been like this. When she wanted to settle down with him, he chose someone else. When she had finally begun to start a new life, he regretted his decision and insisted on standing outside her building every day as if he were a permanent fixture.
Yet, at this very moment, when she was desperately seeking someone’s help, he was nowhere to be found.
It was as if they lived in two different dimensions, their frequencies forever out of sync. Consequently, they could only drift further apart.
Ring!
Her phone rang.
“Lysander? Has the moving company arrived yet?”
Lysander called out, “Zachary.”
Hope instantly sparked in the eyes of Maverick and Laura. “Is it a call from Zach?” they asked.
Lysander gave a slight nod.
Laura spoke loudly into the phone. “Zach, have you finished up over there?”
Lysander simply decided to put the call on speakerphone.
Zachary’s gentle and warm voice came through the phone. “My mom didn’t have much to bring. She didn’t want to take the old furniture, only some clothes and daily necessities. I’ve finished moving everything for her this morning. Mrs. Thorne, how are things on your end? Do you need me to come over?”
