Lysander could distinctly feel a sharp gaze from across the room.
She turned away, avoiding meeting his eyes.
Maxim’s heavily pregnant wife, Remi Dyer smiled as she took Lysander’s hand. “Dr. Thorne, please sit. The meal is about to start.”
Lysander insisted. “But the other employees haven’t arrived yet. How can we start?”
Remi affectionately patted her hand. “They’re all young people, not into gatherings. My husband told them to go have fun on their own. Come, sit here.”
Lysander once again realized that although pregnant women were considered vulnerable, in a sense, they were also strong.
Because of her pregnancy, if she set her mind on something, those caught by her couldn’t dare resist too much.
Just like now, she was forced to passively sit by Remi, and she couldn’t directly shake off her hand.
It was reminiscent of when she was pulled into the chaotic traffic by Lysanne and nearly lost her life.
Remi called out, “Maxim, come over here. Let Zach sit in your spot. The young couple should sit together.”
Maxim slapped his forehead, laughing heartily. “Ah, that’s forgetful of me. Yes, yes, couples should sit together. Today, there are three couples here. It’s like celebrating Valentine’s Day. Isn’t that festive?”
At this point, Josiah abruptly set down his cutlery.

With that, he tilted his head back, downing half a glass of vodka.
After finishing, he turned the glass upside down, indicating it was empty.
Zachary placed the empty glass on the table and raised his voice. “I hope our architectural design company’s cooperation with Guerra Group goes smoothly, achieving a win–win situation.”
Josiah remained unmoved, keeping his head slightly tilted. He looked like he was assessing Zachary, yet also contemplating something.
Lysanne sat beside, shrinking into a small ball, not daring to utter a word.
Seeing Josiah silent for a while, she called softly, “Josiah…”

Josiah raised his glass, but his gaze remained fixed on her, his tone somewhat self–deprecating. “Sometimes, I actually wish we could quarrel. Always bottling it up inside, not even giving a chance to explain, not even starting a fight, that’s the hardest.”
Zachary refilled his own glass again, raising it to clink with Josiah’s. “Exactly, it’s better to speak up about anything.”
Remi asked, “Zach, do you quarrel with Dr. Thorne?”
“We have never fought.”
“Really?”
“We grew up together from childhood. Our parents have always been close, so we know each other inside. out. There’s nothing to quarrel about.”
Remi was a bit envious. “You two are childhood sweethearts. That’s really nice.”
She joked, “Zach, you’re smart to have secured such a beautiful and outstanding wife early on. Once you’re married and have children, your career will flourish even more. That’s true success in both career and family.”
Zachary chuckled. “Lysander is a career–oriented woman. I don’t know when she’ll have children. But I’m not in a hurry. I’ll wait for her.”
