His Beloved Ex-Wife Online Novel CHAPTER 468

Chapter 468 The Fainting Was All An Act

“In our circles, there are some occasions you just can’t avoid. As long as you maintain your integrity, no one will force you to do anything.”

Lysander nodded, not intending to probe further.

She hadn’t pried into his matters during their marriage, much less now.

“She’s had a tough time,” Josiah continued. “Your parents were quite good to you. They worked hard to support your education, and you certainly made them proud. But there are many girls around the world who don’t get the chance to go to school, who lack education and opportunities and have very few options for work. I won’t lie to you. I’ve known Amelia for quite a while. When Lysanne got married abroad, I was very distressed and had no one to talk to except her. But we were just friends, nothing more.

Lysander replied, “You should explain that to Priscilla.”

Josiah knew this was a rare opportunity. With genuine delight in his voice, he tentatively asked, “So, when you saw Amelia by my side recently, were you angry?”

Lysander met his gaze directly, seeing his barely concealed emotions. She said calmly, “If you want the truth, I don’t care.”

Josiah’s smile froze instantly.

“You’re a single man in your prime, with status and position. Naturally, you won’t lack women around you. Whether it’s one or many, that’s up to you. From what I’ve seen, Tiffany doesn’t seem to mind. If you both agree on your relationship dynamics, that’s fine.”

Having grown up abroad, Tiffany might have a more open–minded view on relationships and could accept this kind of relationship.

Lysander added fire to fuel. “When are you and Tiffany planning to get married?”

Josiah, who had just managed to calm himself, felt his breath catch in his chest again.

Josiah snorted coldly, his expression turning frosty once more. However, considering Lysander’s attitude

softened today, he remained silent.

The deliveryman’s voice broke the silence. “Hello, your delivery is here.”

Considering that Josiah was still a patient, Lysander went to the door herself to collect the seafood. “Thank you.”

She was about to take the ingredients straight to the kitchen to cook them quickly and leave when she noticed that the takeaway box in her hand seemed to contain… cooked food?

“Did you buy pre–cooked seafood?”

Josiah mumbled, “Maybe the restaurant made a mistake.”

“Well, that saves me the trouble.”

Josiah grew anxious. “But you promised to cook seafood for me.”

Lysander asked, “Should I just reheat it for you?”

“The seafood became overcooked once heated.”

“Do you have plates? I can plate it for you.”

Josiah grabbed the takeaway bag from her hands and took it to the dining room. He took out the takeaway boxes one by one and placed them on the table. “There are ready–made takeaway boxesUsing plates means more to wash later. This will do.”

Lysander thought for a moment and nodded. “Okay then, take your time eating. I’ll take my leave now.”

“Lysander.”

Lysander gave him a puzzling look.

“I ordered too much. Join me.”

Lysander shook her head. “I don’t like seafood.”

“Just keep me company,” Josiah said. “Old Mrs. Everhart might need

Lysander was speechless.

“Have a seat.”

Feeling helpless, Lysander sat back in her original spot.

my help again.”

Josiah smirked. “Dr. Thorne, since you didn’t get to showcase your cooking skills this time, maybe you can do it the next time.”

Lysander retorted, “With your stomach problem, you should eat less seafood.”

“Then I’ll wait until my stomach is better. At that time, you can show off your culinary skills.”

“Eleanor’s cooking is much better than mine.”

“But you’ve already promised me.”

Josiah’s smile widened. “We’ll talk about it later. Have you messaged Daphne?”

“Not yet.”

“Do it now. I’ll get some alcohol.”

That was truly bizarre.

Surprisingly, he had alcohol in his house, even though he didn’t own a single cup.

Josiah came back with a spray bottle and asked, “Have you finished?”

“Yes, I told her.”

“Put down your phone and spread your palms.”

After spraying Lysander’s palms with alcohol, he also disinfected his own hands.

“Done.” Josiah rubbed his palms together in a professional manner. “You used to make me disinfect, and now it’s become a habit.”

Lysander said nothing.

While opening the takeaway boxes, Josiah switched to a serious topic. “Now that Thorne Constructions and Energies is in your hands, and the procedures will be completed soon, what’s your plan?”

“I’m preparing to buy some management books or sit in some university management courses.”

“Those are just theories. Practical work is very different from what you learn in books.”

“I know,” Lysander said. “But for now, there’s no better way.”

Josiah straightened his posture. “If you need help, I’m willing to offer guidance, considering our families‘ long–standing relationship. After all, I have some say in the Thorne business.”

“You’re being polite. You were practically managing it before.”

Josiah nodded. “So if you have any questions, you can ask me directly.”

“I’ve never tried managing a company before. Whether I can handle it alone is still uncertain. These things can’t be rushed, so I’ll think carefully before deciding.”

Lysander spoke softly but with meticulous consideration.

Josiah knew that it would take time to intervene in Thorne Constructions and Energies again. He said, “You’re right. You’ve studied medicine and been a doctor for many years. Switching to a completely different field takes a lot of determination.”

This was exactly what made Lysander hesitate. Medicine and business were entirely different paths.

Josiah anticipated that Adrian would think the same and began plotting how to prevent him from helping Lysander. But before he could formulate a plana different issue arose.

Lysander asked, “You seem quite spirited now. Is your stomach no longer hurting?”

Josiah paused. “It’s much better, but there’s still a bit discomfort.”

Lysander smiled meaningfully. “So… you were faking your fainting?”

“I was not exactly faking,” Josiah admitted. “I did feel a bit dizzy earlier, but the green tea helped.”

“Oh.”

Taking the opportunity, Josiah asked, “When you were examining me just now, you pressed quite hard. That was on purpose, wasn’t it?”

“I was being gentle. If you met an experienced internal medicine doctor, it would have been more

intense.

Josiah nodded. “OkayThank you, Dr. Thorne, for going easy on me.”

His Beloved Ex-Wife

Thorne fervently prayed for Josiah Guerra and his company’s triumph.Yet, just as she settled into a moment of respite, her phone shattered the silence. “Dr. Thorne, we need you at the hospital immediately. There’s a pregnant woman in dire condition.” Still reeling from the recent shock outside the operating room, Lysander now observed the bloodstains adorning Josiah’s once pristine white shirt, the disheveled fabric, and the conspicuous stains on his sleeves. Turning away, she retreated to her seat and inquired with composure, “Have you attended to her?”
